Controversial Artist Portable Arrested in Ilorin Over Alleged Defamation of Fuji Star Saheed Osupa

Popular Nigerian street-hop musician, Habeeb Okikilola Badmus, widely known by his stage name Portable, has been arrested in Ilorin following serious allegations levelled against him by renowned fuji legend, Okunola Saheed, popularly called Saheed Osupa.

According to a press release from the Kwara State Police Command, the arrest followed a formal petition filed by Saheed Osupa. The petition accuses Portable of multiple offences, including criminal defamation, threats to life, incitement, character assassination, and conduct likely to incite public unrest. He was also alleged to have used offensive and abusive language publicly.

Spokesperson for the Command, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, confirmed that based on the gravity of the allegations and supporting evidence submitted by the petitioner, the police obtained a warrant of arrest from a Magistrate Court in Ilorin.

“Acting on the court’s directive, officers of the command went to Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Sunday, April 13, 2025, and successfully apprehended the suspect at about 7:25pm. He was subsequently transported to Ilorin to assist with the ongoing investigation,” the statement read.

Upon his arrival in Ilorin, Portable’s statement was recorded in the presence of legal representatives from both sides. The police also confirmed that he is currently being held in custody.

SP Ejire-Adeyemi added that the command is making swift arrangements to charge the artist to court in accordance with the law.

Known for his erratic behaviour and outspoken personality, Portable has been no stranger to public disputes and has made headlines on several occasions for his actions both on and off stage.
