Osun Amotekun Corps officials arrested Adekunle Obideyi, a 27-year-old man, for stealing cocoa, bananas, and other farm produce.
Obideyi, an Erinmo-Ijesa native in Osun State, was taken into custody after stealing farm produce from a communal farm and fleeing with it.
Osun Amotekun Corps Commander Isaac Omoyele told journalists in Osogbo on Monday, December 2, 2024, that the culprit had been detained after receiving a tip.
“Amotekun operatives swiftly acted on the information, tracking down and capturing Obideyi in his hideout in Erinmo-Ijesa,” he told me.
“During preliminary questioning, the suspect confessed to the crime and admitted that this was not his first involvement in such illegal activities.”
Omoyele stated that the suspect frequently stole cocoa and bananas from fields and sold them to interested purchasers.
He explained that the suspect was detained after performing the theft and attempted to hide in an unfinished building, where he was eventually caught.
He revealed that the suspect had been taken to the Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for further investigation and interrogation.
