AFCON: 43-Year-Old Father Of Two Passed Away While Nigeria-South Africa Match

On Wednesday, February 7, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, a 43-year-old man named Mikail Osundiji also passed away while he was watching the football semi-final between Nigeria and the Bafana Bafana of South Africa.

The father of two reportedly passed away while watching the game at a public football viewing center in the Olomoore neighborhood of Abeokuta after going into shock.

According to eyewitnesses, the dead passed away when the referee overturned Victor Osimhen’s second goal for Nigeria versus South Africa.

According to family members, the deceased had no symptoms of illness before passing away.

Mrs. Adetunji Nofisat, the deceased’s elder sister, confirmed this to DailyTrust. She claimed that following the cancellation of Nigeria’s second goal, Osundiji suddenly let out a heavy breath, bent his head, and fell to the ground at the football viewing center.

“That was when other people at the football viewing center rushed to him and took him to one of the private hospitals in Olomoore before the doctor on duty pronounced him dead”, the deceased’s sister said

Nofisat, however, disclosed that the remains of the deceased had been buried on Thursday afternoon in line with the Islamic rites.

“We cannot take his corpse to his hometown, Okuku in Osun State because he still has a father, mother and two children who are of 12 and seven years of age”, she said
