Ola Olukoyede, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has issued an immediate investigation into allegations of bribery allegedly made against certain Commission officials by Idris Okuneye (or as he is known as Bobrisky) in a recent audio released on September 24th by the social activist, Very Dark Man.
In the audio, Bobrisky communicated with an unidentified individual via telephone, expressing his intention to reimburse unnamed officials of the commission with a sum of N15,000,000(Nine Million Naira) for their assistance in removing allegations of money laundering In April, the Commission initiated six charges against Bobrisky, which were related to Naira abuse and money laundering.
Four of these charges were related to Naira abuse, while two others were related to money laundering.
However, when he was brought to court, the money laundering charges were dropped, while he was charged with four counts of abuse of the Naira. Subsequently, he was sentenced to six months in jail on April 12, following his conviction.
