YouTube‘s video feature, Shorts, is about to get a big upgrade. Previously limiting users to a 60-second video limit, from October 15th, users will be able to put together 3-minute YouTube shorts.
This new update was spurred by requests from creators who wanted more time to share their ideas and content. While previous shorts will remain unchanged, moving forward, all shorts will allow for this longer format.
Moreover, YouTube is also refreshing the Shorts player in an effort to simplify the design and make it more user-friendly. The description lines will be reduced to a single line, and comment visibility will be directly available within the Shorts player.
Additionally, new features for creators are in the pipeline, such as easy remixing of clips from other YouTube videos directly in the Shorts camera, as well as the option to use templates for personalised and trending effects.
This shift is Google’s strategy to make YouTube shorts more engaging, intuitive, and user-friendly, responding to its creators’ needs and feedback.
