A 25-year-old woman has been rescued by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) after allegedly being locked up in a room for five years by her father in Jigawa State.
The NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Dutse Command, Adamu Shehu, made it known while addressing the reporters that the 25-year-old woman was locked up by her father in a compact room usually used as her bedroom, restroom, and dining area.

Meanwhile, a 50-year-old neighbour, Safiya Mustapha, who lives some blocks away, raised the alarm, which led to the victim’s rescue.
The 67-year-old father, identified as Garba Musa and his wife, who happens to be the victim’s stepmother, are now being arrested and await their judgement upon investigation.
