In a heartbreaking incident, a newborn baby girl was discovered lifeless on a church’s premises located on Engr Chukelu Street, Ububa South, Nkpor Agu, in the Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The lifeless baby, presumably a day old, was found in the early morning of Monday, August 12.
A video circulating online displayed the lifeless baby concealed beneath dried plantain leaves. A voice, claiming to be the Chief Security Officer of the Nkpor community, called for any information regarding the baby.
He explained, “I had the distressing task of inspecting a deceased one-day-old girl abandoned on a church’s grounds at Engr Chukelu Street, Ububa South, Nkpor Agu.
If anyone knows who might be responsible for this heinous act, please step forward so we can assist the police in their investigation.”
The Ogidi Police Division has been informed about the incident, and officers attended the scene, directing the evacuation of the lifeless body. The case is presently under investigation with community members’ assistance.
