A woman, Wuraola Surajudeen, beseeched an Area Court in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Wednesday for divorce two weeks after marrying her husband, Surajudeen Iya-Onitasi, citing a “lack of love and affection.”
According to NAN, she told the court that she had already been married before marrying Iya-Onitasi.
“I divorced my former husband due to pressure from my mother. My former husband became a religious fanatic after our marriage, and my parents were against him. I was introduced to my present husband, and we got along smoothly, but immediately after the marriage, I developed a hatred for him,” she said.
The defendant told the court his wife had left the house without permission, claiming she was bored of the marriage.
However, he said he tried to finalise the union several times, but she refused, so he let her go.
“I want her to pay back the N20,000 dowry I paid for her hand in marriage,” he said.
The Presiding Judge, Hammed Ajumonbi, directed the petitioner to repay the do.
