Samsung has begun a countdown to its latest foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6. It has decided to host a separate Galaxy Unpacked event in Paris to highlight its premium products. Before going official, we have some news about the unique software policy.
These devices will come with One UI 6.1.1, based on Android 14. It is worth noting that the next foldable will end the Galaxy S24’s software exclusivity and will have a seven-year software upgrade policy.
Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 Software Update Policy
Following the seven-year software strategy, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 will receive seven major software upgrades and security fixes over the next seven years.
They will receive substantial software upgrades, including Android 21. This ensures that consumers receive timely updates to features.
In addition, some rumours suggest that the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6 will have several new specs. This time, the next-generation foldable will have an IP48 rating, making it less vulnerable to water and dust.
These handsets will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, previously explicitly revealed for the Galaxy S24 devices.
Aside from the species, the new foldable will not see any significant design improvements. For marketing, Samsung plans to include its newest Galaxy Buds 3 Pro with each smartphone sold.
