The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has confirmed the arrest of one Pastor Ebonyi for defrauding his church members and others of a whopping N1.3 billion.
In a trending gist, Apostle Theophilus Oloche Ebonyi, the General Overseer of Faith On The Rock Ministry International, has been nabbed for allegedly defrauding his church members and other Nigerians of a whopping N1.3 billion.
According to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ebonyi defrauded his victims using fraudulent Ford Foundation funding.
The spokesperson of the crime commission, Dele Oyewale, made the official announcement in a statement on Monday, February 5.
“Ebonyi was arrested for defrauding his victims, who included NGOs and individuals, by advertising an intervention project through his NGO (Theobarth Global Foundation), stating that the Ford Foundation was granted a $20,000 grant to aid the least privileged in society.
He allegedly duped his victims into becoming recipients of the phony grant by requesting them to pay for registration paperwork and fees. Each subscriber was required to pay merely N1,800,000. Pastor Ebonyi allegedly earned N1,391,040,274.31 from this deal.
