Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, has already captured the critical battleground state of Georgia.
FMTBLOG understands the US media first predicted this on early Wednesday and flipped a 2020 Democratic state against his challenger, Kamala Harris.
CNN and NBC News support the former Republican president.
NBC News said it was “an important win for Republicans who had worked to restore the state to its long history as a Republican stronghold since Joe Biden won in 2020.”.
It also approved the run-off elections for Democratic Senators Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff later in the month.
This is a massive development in Trump’s effort to undo his defeat in Georgia four years ago—when he called on Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to “find” the 11,782 votes he needed to win the state.
This project served as the basis for a criminal racketeering charge against him in Fulton County last year. This case is still ongoing.
Trump’s victory over Vice President Kamala Harris in Georgia does not mean he will return to the White House. But it does set the stage for a potential comeback should he secure multiple other swing states that Biden won four years ago. Biden was the first Democrat to win the state since Bill Clinton in 1992. Trump managed to achieve this in 2016.
Trump’s campaign attempted to rebalance the Democratic gains in the city of Atlanta while drawing out as many voters as possible in smaller, rural communities.
This was backed up by a strong and dedicated corps of Republican county chairs and elected officials, who regularly scheduled campaign events long before Trump ramped up his activity in the state.
Trump travelled to Georgia six times this year, holding rallies in Rome, Savannah, and Atlanta.
