In a bid to improve the privacy of it users, social media platform, Meta sets to roll out update to block screenshot on profile pictures

WhatsApp has eliminated the feature that lets users keep other people’s profile screenshots to increase privacy.

The information indicates that WhatsApp is introducing a feature that will prevent screenshots of profile photos, which implies that users won’t be able to snap screenshots of each other’s desktop images (DPs). It gives users additional privacy control and guarantees that their photos won’t be shared or kept on unapproved sites.

Furthermore, this functionality would stop profile images from being misused or distributed without authorization.

WhatsApp wants to promote the idea of user privacy and consent by discouraging the careless and illegal sharing of profile photographs. To this end, the app has blocked the ability to take direct screenshots.

When a user tries to take a screenshot of their profile photo after the most recent version upgrade, a notification that the action has been blocked shows that users can still utilize a camera or auxiliary device to snap their profile picture.

As a result, beta testers can now access the feature that prevents screenshots of profile images starting with version 2.24.4.25. As a result, more users will get access to it in the upcoming days, weeks, or months.
