Glynis Johns, an actress, passed away at the age of 100.
In the iconic 1964 film musical “Mary Poppins,” the British actress played a suffragette who finds her way back to her kids with the help of a magical nanny.
According to her manager, Mitch Clem, Johns, a versatile veteran of theatre and film, passed away at an assisted living facility in the Los Angeles area from natural causes.
She was nominated for an Oscar in 1960 for the film “The Sundowners” and won a Tony Award for her performance in the Stephen Sondheim musical “A Little Night Music” in 1973.
Throughout her over 60-year film career, she starred in numerous films, but her most well-known performance was in “Mary Poppins” as Winifred Banks, the kind suffragist mother who seems to be more focused on her cause than her two kids.

Johns played a seductive mermaid in “Miranda” (1948) as well as two roles in the mermaid follow-up “Mad About Men” (1954).
Alongside Robert Mitchum, Deborah Kerr, and Peter Ustinov, she played a hotel attendant in the Australian adventure film “The Sundowners,” for which she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
Johns passed away before her son.
