Google Chats stated that a significant redesign will be available for both iOS and Android smartphones, better symphonising with its recently unveiled symbol. The most recent update adds a new bottom navigation bar with four different sections and tabs along with a new visual style and navigation mechanism.
On the other hand, the mobile version of the previous iteration had just two tab sections—Chats and Spaces, respectively. The four tabs—Home, Direct Messages, Spaces, and Mentions—correspond to the most recent update.
The Home tab is the first tab that users see, and it provides a much richer and more unified view of their discussions. Users can also access all of their unread messages with the aid of a new filter. The Direct communications page comes next, where users may see both group and 1:1 communications in addition to their pinned chats.
Upon accessing the third tab, Spaces, users can get a condensed list of their spaces along with all of their bookmarked discussions. In addition, users may easily locate their messages and discussions in which they have been mentioned by using the final Mentions tab.
Google has revealed the precise layout of the latest update for the integrated Gmail mobile app. The company says that instead of having two tabs in the bottom bar for Chats and Spaces, there will now be just one Chat tab for both email and Google Meet.

With a new FAB, or floating action button, shifted to the right, and the aforementioned four new tabs now appearing in a floating pill-shaped container just above the bottom bar, On the other hand, each tab will now have an unread badge and a single count in the bottom bar.
Google has not yet revealed the precise layout of the Google Chat standalone app, nor has it indicated if it will follow the Gmail integration’s structural redesign or stick with the traditional bottom bar and FAB.
Furthermore, the major redesign of Google Chat will be gradually rolled out for iOS and Android users over the next few weeks. This update will be available to all Google Workspace customers as well as individuals with personal Google Accounts. It also coincides with the platform’s release of the Chat Bubbles feature.
