Omolola Bowoto, A Nigerian Lady Studying In The UK Cries For Help, Starts GoFundMe Campaign Over School Fees Balance

Omolola Bowoto,a Nigeria lady, studying in the UK has cried for help over her inability to meet up with the University financial obligation. She has started a GoFundMe campaign as a way to solicit for financial help to pay off her debt and save her from dropping out.

The Master’s student from England’s University of Essex, Omolola, revealed in a TikTok video that she is facing the prospect of having her admission revoked, which would mean losing all of her hard work and progress up to this point—she is only five months away from graduating.

She wrote on her GoFundMe page, “Help Lola Graduate this Year,” that family problems and the depreciation of the Nigerian naira were the main reasons she had financial difficulties.

“…Due to the devaluation of naira and family financial challenge it has limited me having enough to fund my tuition and is disheartening to find myself in this position but I am still strong-willed to complete my studies.

“I humbly ask for your support in any way you can provide – whether it’s a financial contribution, sharing this campaign with your network, or offering words of encouragement. Every bit makes a significant difference, and I am grateful for any assistance you can offer,” she wrote.

In addition to the £5,300 (about N6 million) that Omolola has personally raised, she has stated that an urgent further £15,400 (N17.6 million) is needed to pay off the remaining due tuition.

At the time of reporting, 223 people supported the GoFundMe effort using the hashtag #HelpLolaGraduateThisYear, contributing a total of £4,434 (more than N5 million).
