EFCC Arraigns Detained Binance Officials In Court Today (VIDEO)

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has brought charges against top officials from Binance in court today. One of the two officials, Binance Holdings Ltd, faces five money laundering counts at an Abuja high court.

Binance, Gambaryan, and Anjarwalla attempted to escape from custody on March 22 and fled Nigeria. They are set to appear before Justice Emeka Nwite at a Federal High Court in Abuja.

The charges, filed on March 28, allege that the trio engaged in money laundering amounting to $35,400,000. Anjarwalla, currently on the run, is listed as the third defendant and is expected to be arraigned absent.

The first count accuses the defendants of conducting a specialized financial business in Abuja without a valid license between January 2023 and January 2024. This offense violates the Banks and Other Financial Institutions Act 2020 and is punishable under the same Act.
