Reports say that Microsoft is considering closing its African Development Centre in Lagos, which would be a massive blow to Nigeria’s tech industry.

If this move goes through, it will put at least 200 people out of work.

In addition, it would significantly affect the country’s technology, which could hurt job chances and new ideas in the field.

According to a business insider who spoke to The Guardian on Tuesday, May 7, Microsoft told employees the company would close on Monday, May 6.

Affected employees will still be paid their salaries and health insurance until June.

Sources say that Nigeria’s challenging economic situation played a part.

The shutdown only affects the ADC’s business in Nigeria, not in Nairobi, Kenya, which is in East Africa.
