Amidst Economy Hardship, President Tinubu’s 2027 Campaign Billboard Erected

A billboard hinting at a potential second-term run for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 election has been noticed in the lively Area One district of Abuja.

The strategic placement of the billboard, bearing not just the image of the President but also that of his wife, Remi, has ignited a wave of speculation and chatter amongst pedestrians and commuters.

“Grassroots support for Tinubu 2027, the 1019 initiative,” the billboard reads, a strong signal of his intent despite no formal declaration from Tinubu himself to run for re-election.

Tinubu, who took office on May 29, 2023, achieved his goal of becoming the nation’s leader. In the roughly year and a half since his ascension, Tinubu’s administration has seen various repercussions for Nigerians. Particularly notable were the controversial decisions to eliminate fuel subsidies and decontrol the national currency, which have precipitated economic difficulty and popular discontent.

Public dissatisfaction eventually snowballed into the #EndBadGovernance protests, which swept across the nation from August 1 to 10.

All attempts to reach the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, for comments have been fruitless. As of the time of this news report, he has not responded to the queries about this development.
