2025 Budget: Tinubu, Shettima Gets ₦6.36B For Their Official Quarters’ Renovation

The Federal Government of Nigeria has budgeted ₦6.36 billion in the projected 2025 budget to rebuild and rehabilitate residential accommodations for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and his aides.

The 2025 Appropriation Bill allocates ₦5.49 billion for maintaining the Presidential Villa, ₦765 million for renovating the Vice President’s residence and guest house, and ₦6.39 million for refurbishing the President’s quarters at the State House.

The security quarters, auditorium, gymnasium, and assistant houses will be renovated for ₦49 million, with an extra ₦51 million for modifications to Prescott Barracks, officers’ mess, and signal office in Asokoro, Abuja.

The budget allocates ₦87 million for honorariums and sitting allowances for the President and Vice President and ₦127 million for SUVs. The State House budget includes ₦3.66 billion for operational cars and ₦1.09 billion to replace SUVs.

The State House Lagos Liaison Office has budgeted ₦14.72 million for normal maintenance of Dodan Barracks and the Vice President’s guest homes in Ikoyi. Additionally, ₦140.10 million is budgeted for renovating and outfitting the State House annexe at Dodan Barracks.

The Federal Government wants to spend ₦1.83 billion on converting seized properties to quarters for the State House. Notably, the EFCC recently reported the recovery of a lot of land in Abuja’s Lokogoma district.

The estate spans 150,500 square meters and has 753 duplexes and residential units, making it the commission’s largest asset recovery since its inception in 2003. This property was forfeited on December 2, 2024, following a decision by Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie.
