Bashar Al-Assad Exits Power in Syria, Finds Refuge in Moscow.

Syrian citizens were seen rejoicing in the streets as the reign of President Bashar al-Assad finally came to an end. All this followed a swift and fierce offensive that led to the fall of his administration.

As he stepped down, exuberant citizens left presidential residences to the mercy.

The former Syrian President has now made Moscow his new home, as confirmed by Russian authorities. Bashar al-Assad and his family landed on Russian soil on Sunday, a Kremlin source revealed to the TASS news agency.

The source added, “Russia, for humanitarian reasons, has granted them asylum.”

There’s been a confirmation of a pact struck between Moscow and Syrian opposition leaders. The deal ensures the safety of Russian military bases and diplomatic premises in Syria, as shared by an undisclosed source.

We now know that Bashar al-Assad and his family left Damascus after an overwhelmingly swift offensive from anti-regime groups, ending his rule of over two decades.

While the former President fled, the Syrian public seized the opportunity to explore presidential palaces, grandly expressing their glee in selfies amongst the place’s grandeur. Luxurious cars presumed to belong to the former president were discovered in a nearby building.

In the wake of the power shift, Syrians in various parts of the world celebrated a historical transformation from Madrid to Manchester and Tripoli in northern Lebanon.

The fall of Bashar al-Assad’s administration signifies a massive change for Syria, a nation marred by 13 years of civil unrest, battling against three forces: the North’s Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), the Southern Front, and an Eastern Kurdish group.

The Syrian rebels, a multifaceted opposition, are transitioning to establish a new governing body with complete executive powers. Abu Mohammed al Jolani, the leader of the HTS, emphasised a determined way ahead with no plans of retrogression.

World leaders have reacted to Assad’s downfall, with Russia, a prominent ally of the Assad regime, seeking an urgent UN Security Council meeting to discuss the Syrian situation. The US President, Joe Biden, conveyed that the fall of Assad is a crucial act of justice and a risky passage.

Meanwhile, Israel has reportedly launched three airstrikes against a significant security establishment in Damascus, according to regional security sources.
