Remember that the former governor of Kogi State is currently facing allegations brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Bello was accused of money laundering, corruption, and N80 billion fraud, all of which allegedly occurred during his stint as governor of the state.

On Friday, December 20, the former Kogi State Governor was released from the Kuje Custodial Centre after meeting the bail conditions imposed by the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja.

Justice MaryAnne Anenih awarded Bello a bail of N500 million on Thursday. The terms included giving three sureties, each of whom owned property in a high-value district of Abuja, such as Maitama, Guzape, or Asokoro.

The court also ordered Bello to forfeit his passport and prohibited him from travelling outside Nigeria without prior permission.

Videos circulating online show Governor Ododo and other supporters greeted Bello enthusiastically after his release.
