FMTBLOG gathered that the two-week-old baby was sold for N4 million to a 42-year-old woman looking to adopt a kid; the baby’s mother was only paid N600,000 by the broker.

Along with two other friends, Rachael, a native of Asaba, Delta State, was paraded at the state police command under Mr. Bright Edafe, the police public relations officer.

She said she is a mother of one other male kid and that she had to give away the two-week-old baby girl because she was finding it difficult to take care of the two children.

She said the father of the two-week-old kid she delivered on January 27, 2025, denied paternity of the child she gave birth to.

“I am the only one looking after the child. Thus, I gave it away,” Rachael stated.

She remarked, “I took care of myself; I struggled; I was going to people’s compounds to clean and do some other chores,” on how she managed while pregnant.

She claimed to have encountered a woman she begged to assist as she lacked the financial means to support two children.

Rachael remarked, “The woman gave me N600,000 and said I should settle her, and I gave her N30,000.”

Meanwhile, the woman, whose identity has not been published, said she sold the child for N3.5 million and confirmed that she gave the mother N600,000.

She added that the child’s mother told her she intended to launch a business with the money.

The 42-year-old mother who had tried to adopt the child stated she paid N4 million.

She was assured that the documents for the child’s adoption were being handled and the adoption process was legitimate.
