Nigerian Lawmakers Calls For Porngraphic Website Ban In Nigeria, Instructs NCC !

Members of the House of Representatives have directed the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to ban citizens from accessing pornographic websites.

Speaking on the House floor, Dalhatu Tafaki, a lawmaker from Katsina state, said it would be critical for the nation if all websites hosting obscene and pornographic content were blocked in the country.

According to Tafaki, Nigerians’ free access to such content is destroying their societal and moral norms.

Also, referencing warnings from psychologists and sociologists, Tafaki submitted that young people have, over time, become addicted to this content.

He cited cases in countries across Africa, the Middle East, and Asia where these laws were enacted.

“Renowned psychologists and sociologists worldwide have issued strong warnings about the psychological, sociological, and mental consequences of consuming pornographic content,” Tafaki said.

The MPs decided to protect Nigerians by limiting access to such content, supporting Tafaki’s proposal in a voice vote approved by the House Speaker.

The MPs also instructed the NCC to ensure telecommunications companies’ compliance as soon as possible and to impose penalties on providers that fail to comply.
