June Ashimola, 55, was found dead in Nigeria in 2019, which led to a court case over her assets.

She did, however, go before High Court judge John Linwood and say she was still living and a victim of fraud.

The court heard that Power of Attorney over her assets, mostly of a house in Woolwich, was given dishonestly to people connected to convicted fraudster Tony Ashikodi.

The power was given to Ms. Ruth Samuel in 2022 by Mr. Bakare Lasisi, who said he was her husband.

The judge said that Lasisi did not exist and that the death certificate was faked so that those who owned her things could get them.

Even though it was said that anyone who saw Ashimola was a fake, the judge used passport photos to prove she was who she said she was.

Linwood took back the fake grant because he thought Ashikodi was behind the plan. Both sides had already paid more than £150,000 in legal fees for the case.
