Mohbad’s Lawyer Taiwo Odumosu Distances Himself from GoFundMe Account

In a recent statement, Mohbad’s lawyer Taiwo Odumosu has publicly distanced himself from the GoFundMe account created to support the investigation into the death of late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

Odumosu, who once represented Mohbad’s family, made it clear that he had no role in handling any of the funds raised through the GoFundMe platform. According to him, he was never involved in any financial transaction related to the toxicology test or autopsy carried out on the late artist.

“All payments for the toxicology test were made directly by Mr. Famuyiwa to the pathologist. Neither I nor my law firm handled any of the funds,” Mohbad’s lawyer Taiwo Odumosu said in a statement shared with PUNCH Metro on Wednesday.

He also clarified that he had no ties to the GoFundMe account, stating: “I am not in charge of the GoFundMe account created for Mohbad, and I am not a signatory to it.”

In a surprising revelation, Odumosu disclosed that the foreign lab which handled the toxicology analysis did it free of charge. He explained that during a meeting he attended with Mr. Famuyiwa and the pathologist, it was confirmed that the European lab carried out the test without requesting payment.

He added that since the toxicology test came at no cost, it was only fair for the family to give the public a full report on how the remaining GoFundMe donations have been used.

Odumosu also expressed disappointment over the wave of misinformation and character attacks he and the pathologist have faced since getting involved in the case.

“The pathologist showed great courage by taking on this sensitive and high-profile case, especially when many of his peers were reluctant,” he said.

He stressed that the post-mortem and toxicology procedures were handled professionally and followed proper standards.

Giving more background, Mohbad’s lawyer Taiwo Odumosu explained that the first point of contact for the second autopsy was Mr. Famuyiwa Ayodele, who independently discussed and handled the payment terms with the pathologist.

He concluded by calling out those who he believes are attempting to mislead the public and damage the reputation of those genuinely working towards justice for Mohbad.

“I can confidently say that the autopsy process was done with utmost care. Truth will come out eventually—not just for Mohbad, but for everyone wrongly accused in the process. Justice will be served,” he said.

As the investigation into Mohbad’s death continues, the public remains eager for transparency and truth, especially when it comes to how funds raised in his name are being managed.
