Pa Reuben Fasoranti Praises Tinubu’s Leadership During First Lady’s Visit to Ondo

Elder statesman and leader of the Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, praises Tinubu for his leadership since becoming Nigeria’s President. The 98-year-old made this known during a courtesy visit from the First Lady, Senator Remi Tinubu, at his home in Akure, Ondo State.

According to a statement released by the First Lady’s media aide, Busola Kukoyi, Pa Fasoranti said he was pleased with how the Tinubu administration is running the country and even prayed for the President’s continued success.

“I am satisfied with what he is doing in Nigeria. Well done,” he said.

The First Lady described the visit as informal, noting that it was to check on Pa Fasoranti and to personally deliver greetings from her husband. She also described the elder statesman as a father figure to both herself and President Tinubu.

This visit was part of Senator Tinubu’s two-day official trip to Ondo State, where she rolled out several health and women empowerment projects under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).

Earlier, the First Lady held a meeting with more than 60 traditional rulers in the state, led by the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, who represented the Chairman of the Ondo State Council of Obas. These royal fathers expressed their appreciation for the President’s efforts and also praised the First Lady for championing causes related to health and social development.

The monarchs also gave their backing to the Renewed Hope Initiative and voiced support for President Tinubu’s re-election.

One of the major highlights of the visit took place at The Dome in Akure. There, Senator Tinubu handed over 10,000 medical scrubs and 10,000 pairs of crocs to midwives across Nigeria’s South-West region. This was part of the healthcare support arm of the Renewed Hope Initiative.

She also gave a N50 million grant to the wife of the Ondo State Governor, Mrs Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa. The grant is aimed at supporting 1,000 women petty traders through the RHI Small Business Recapitalisation Programme. In addition, 200 women were given bales of fabric to boost their businesses.

While giving her keynote address, the First Lady encouraged health workers to keep improving their skills and appreciated their efforts in saving lives. She noted that the kits provided are part of the federal government’s wider plan to retrain 120,000 health workers, of which 60,000 have already been trained.

In his remarks, Ondo State Governor, Dr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, thanked the Federal Government for its support to the state. He mentioned the recent upgrade of the Adeyemi College of Education to a University of Education and the establishment of an Air Force School in Akure as positive developments.
