Peter Nwachukwu, Husband Of The Late Gospel Singer, Osinachi, Bags D£ath Sentence

Peter Nwachukwu, the husband of the late gospel artist Osinachi Nwachukwu, has been condemned to death by hanging by the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) located in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja.

On Monday, April 28, 2025, Justice Nwosu-Iheme issued the ruling after determining that Nwachukwu was guilty of culpable homicide, which resulted in his wife’s death on April 8, 2022.

Nwachukwu was initially charged on June 3, 2022, by the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation (OAGF) representing the Federal Government.

He faced a total of 23 charges, which included culpable homicide punishable by death, spousal battery, child cruelty, and criminal intimidation, among others.

During the proceedings, the prosecution summoned 17 witnesses, including two of the couple’s two of the couple’s children, who served as the fourth and fifth witnesses for the prosecution.

In total, 25 documents were presented in court to support the prosecution’prosecution’shukwu testified in his defence and called upon four additional witnesses, introducing four pieces of evidence to support his assertions.

Before sentencing, Nwachukwu’s Nwachukwu’seginald Nwali requested the court to show mercy.

Conversely, the prosecuting attorney, Mrs Aderonke Imala, urged the court to adhere strictly to the law without leniency.

Justice Nwosu-Iheme subsequently sentenced Nwachukwu to death by hanging on Count 1.

He was also sentenced to two years in prison for Counts 2, 3, 8, 9, 12, 13, and 18.

For Count 10, he received a sentence of six months in prison, and for Count 11, he was given three years in prison.

Furthermore, the court levied fines of N500,000 and N200,000 for Counts 6 and 7, respectively.
