In a recent public appearance, MC Oluomo addressed the criticism he has faced regarding his English language skills, responding with a proud assertion of his accomplishments and the education he has provided for his children.

Despite not being fluent in English, he emphasised that his determination and hard work have allowed him to achieve significant success, elevating his family from humble beginnings to a position of affluence.

Recounting his journey from being a bus conductor to becoming a prominent leader in the transport union, he shared his belief that success is not solely measured by language proficiency.

“I remained dedicated and worked diligently; I wasn’t formally educated,” he explained to the audience.

He also brushed off comments about his language usage, notably addressing the remark about him calling his son “Kundus.” He refuted the criticism by proudly stating, “Isn’t my son called Kundus? You educated individuals—what have you accomplished?”

He added that, “I stayed there and worked hard, I wasn’t educated. See, they said I said Kundus, is my son, not Kundus? You are educated; what have you done? They should go and compete with my children. I raised my children in wealth. My children are citizens of America, citizens of the UK. I worked hard to get to that level. Kundus, kudos, what’s the difference? What do you want to hear? English is not my mother tongue, Yoruba is.”

Oluomo urged his critics to aspire to the achievements of his children, highlighting the privileges they enjoy, including citizenship in both America and the UK.

He passionately declared, “I laboured to reach this point,” reinforcing the idea that his journey is a testament to his hard work rather than his command of the English language.

He underscored that for him, English is not his first language—Yoruba is—yet his true legacy lies in the success and opportunities he has created for his family.

Through this message, he conveyed his pride in the path he has forged and the bright future he has established for his children.
