Ex-Ogun Special Assistants Appeal to Governor Abiodun Over Unpaid Severance Allowances

Former Special Assistants (SAs) who served under the administration of former Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, have again appealed to Governor Dapo Abiodun to approve the release of their unpaid severance allowances.

The appeal was made in an open letter signed by the Coordinator of the Former Special Assistants Forum, Hon. (Otunba) Musiliu Oladeinde, on behalf of SAs who served the state between 2015 and 2019. 

The group emphasized that their demand is in line with statutory provisions, and urged the governor to fulfill the financial commitment as a matter of justice and goodwill.

According to the letter, the forum had previously met with Governor Abiodun, who reportedly promised to address the issue. However, years after the assurance, the affected aides say they have received no further communication or payment.

“We have previously met with the Governor concerning the issue and he at that meeting promised to pay us, but since then, we have not heard anything from him,” the letter stated.

The group also called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene in the matter, appealing to him to prevail upon Governor Abiodun to act in accordance with the spirit of the “Renewed Hope” agenda by ensuring that the entitlements are paid without further delay.

The former aides highlighted the importance of severance allowances, describing them as a critical financial buffer that helps former public officials reintegrate into society and manage post-office life with dignity.

While commending the developmental achievements of the Abiodun administration and the federal government, the group noted that the fulfillment of their severance benefits would reinforce their confidence and sense of belonging in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“We are all loyal card-carrying APC members who contributed and are still contributing to the growth of the party in the state,” the statement added. “Indeed, we were at the vanguard of those who marketed the party and made it a household name in Ogun State.”
