Ogun Residents Protest High Toll Gate Charges on Ijebu-Ode–Epe Road
Residents in Ogun State took to the streets on Saturday morning to protest the recent increase in toll gate charges by the state government. The protest took place along the busy Ijebu-Ode–Mojoda–Epe Road and caused heavy traffic disruption.

Using tyres and wooden planks, the angry protesters blocked the road, leaving hundreds of travelers stranded for hours. The demonstration extended along the Fari Expressway and reached as far as Mojoda in Epe, Lagos.
Many of the demonstrators were seen holding placards and singing protest songs, demanding a reversal of the new toll gate fees. Their frustration stemmed from what they described as excessive and unfair toll charges, especially for commercial drivers.

A trailer driver who joined the protest shared his frustration. “I paid N3,000 just this morning. How much do we even earn? It’s like they want to take everything from us,” he said.
Another driver, Mr. Odinaka, who was on his way out of town, decided to stop and join the protest. “They need to stop taking money from poor Nigerians who are just trying to survive,” he said.
