Samsung One UI 8 Release Date And Eligible Devices: Here’s Everything You Need To Know

This forthcoming software update, anticipated to be based on Android 16, is expected to introduce exciting new features for Samsung devices.

There are speculations that its release might occur sooner than anticipated, potentially altering Samsung’s usual schedule for software updates.

In this blog post, we’ll discuss the expected release date, the beta testing program, the devices that will surely receive One UI 8 according to Samsung’s update policy, and the implications for Galaxy users.

Historical patterns suggest that Samsung has typically synchronized its major One UI launches with the yearly Android update cycle, landing around the fourth quarter, usually in October or November, following Google’s stable Android release.

For example, One UI 6 was launched on October 30, 2023, while One UI 7 faced significant delays and was released on April 7, 2025. Nonetheless, rumours within the tech community indicate that One UI 8 might disrupt this routine.

Speculation hints at a possible release in July 2025, coinciding with the introduction of Samsung’s upcoming foldable series, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7.

This assumption arises from reports of Samsung speeding up development to align with an earlier Android 16 launch from Google, which could see a stable version release in June or July 2025.

If this occurs, it would represent Samsung’s earliest major One UI launch, which could be an unexpected decision to address the previous delay of One UI 7.

Samsung ONE UI 8 Beta: When To Expect It:

Samsung’s beta programs for One UI allow enthusiasts to experience new features ahead of time, and One UI 8 is expected to continue this tradition. Based on past trends and the rumoured July 2025 release, the beta for One UI 8 could commence in June 2025.

Typically, the beta starts with Samsung’s flagship devices, such as those in the Galaxy S series, and subsequently expands to include foldable and some more affordable models. For One UI 7, the testing phase began on December 5, 2024, with the Galaxy S24 and gradually included the S23, Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, and others by March 2025.

If Samsung adopts this gradual approach, the One UI 8 beta will likely begin with the Galaxy S25 and quickly incorporate foldables like the Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6.

Users can enrol via the Samsung Members app in regions such as the US, UK, India, Germany, and South Korea, allowing them to preview new features before the official release.

While Samsung has yet to officially announce the device list for One UI 8, based on its software update policy, we can infer which devices are guaranteed to receive the upgrade.

Samsung now provides up to seven years of OS updates for select flagship models (starting with the Galaxy S24 series) and four years for others, along with five years of security updates for many devices.

Galaxy Tab Series:

Galaxy Tab S10+, Tab S10 Ultra, Galaxy Tab S9, S9+, S9 Ultra.

Mid-range devices like the Galaxy A55 and A35 may also fall under the four-year policy.

Older models like the Galaxy S21 series might not qualify, as four years of support could lapse before One UI 8 is available.
