A high-ranking EFCC official, who asked to remain unnamed, disclosed this information to Vanguard on Monday, indicating that although Otse is still in custody, no formal charges have been brought against him yet.

VeryDarkMan was taken into custody on Friday, May 2, due to allegations of cyberstalking and related offences outlined in multiple petitions.

His arrest has triggered significant backlash from numerous Nigerians, who see it as an infringement on free speech and a deliberate effort to silence opposing views.

Public discontent grew throughout the weekend, leading to a protest on Monday in Abuja.

Protesters assembled in Wuse, carrying placards with slogans such as “Free VDM!” and “End Selective Justice!” expressing a strong demand for his release.

Insiders near the EFCC reported that multiple charges are being prepared and are anticipated to be submitted to the court by Thursday.

VeryDarkMan is well-known for his forthright commentary on political matters, corruption, and social issues, often criticizing government officials and institutions.

His arrest has sparked condemnation from various sectors, including opposition leaders like former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who labelled it a ‘blatant abuse of power.’

At the time of this report’s publication, the EFCC had not issued an official statement concerning VeryDarkMan’s case.
