Falz Declares His Own Faith: Says Fornication Is Not a Sin
Nigerian singer and activist, Folarin Falana, widely known as Falz, has stirred another round of debate after standing by his controversial view that fornication is not a sin.

The artist said his position comes from his personal belief system, which he calls the “religion of love.”
The conversation began when Falz posted on X (formerly Twitter) that “fornication isn’t a sin.” The statement quickly went viral and was met with strong reactions, especially from followers of Christianity and Islam. Many quoted scriptures to oppose his claim and expressed disappointment in the artist.
In a recent interview on Arise TV, Falz addressed the backlash and explained the thinking behind his statement. He clarified that he wasn’t speaking from a religious point of view, but rather from a belief system based on love and freedom.
“I think people would read the tweet and just assume that I meant according to Christianity. I wasn’t really speaking from that perspective,” he said.
Falz went further to explain that, in his view, if two adults agree to be intimate and are not harming anyone, there is no reason to call it sinful. He questioned the logic behind forbidding premarital sex between consenting unmarried individuals.

“Under that religion, I don’t think fornication is a sin,” he said. “Because I looked at it, I strictly addressed the issue: Why are we not allowed to engage in this premarital intercourse? What is the issue? Who does it offend? These are not married people. These are two unmarried people. Willingly. Consensually. Personally, I don’t think there is a problem there.”
The most eye-opening moment of the interview came when Falz revealed he no longer considers himself a Christian. According to him, he now follows his own belief system — one centered on love, acceptance, and personal understanding.
“I’m no longer a Christian. I practice religion of love,” he added.
