The Nyesom Wike plane incident came to light after a video surfaced on X (formerly Twitter), shared by user @ChuksEricE. In the video, Wike himself narrated the frightening ordeal that happened during his planned trip from Port Harcourt to Lagos.

According to the Minister, his wife had traveled earlier in the day to Lagos to bring their daughter back and landed at the Air Force Base. Wike then decided to join them by catching a flight from Port Harcourt to Lagos the same day.

“My wife went to Lagos to bring my daughter, they landed at the Air Force Base. I was waiting, so I said let me go to the Air Force Base. When they land, I’ll just enter a plane and go to Lagos,” Wike explained.

However, the trip didn’t go as planned. About 15 minutes after takeoff, Wike noticed something unusual. He recalled that the air hostess started running down the aisle, causing concern among passengers.

“I asked what the problem was. She came back and told us one engine is gone,” Wike said.

Thankfully, the pilot acted quickly and safely returned the aircraft to Port Harcourt, avoiding what could have been a major tragedy.

The Nyesom Wike plane incident has stirred a wave of reactions online. Nigerians on social media expressed their shock, concern, and relief over the Minister’s safety. Some users even used the moment to reflect on power, humility, and life’s uncertainties.
