‘I Never Signed the Contract’ – Ryan Taylor Fires Back at Nigerians Criticizing Him

British boxer Ryan Taylor has reacted strongly to the backlash he received from Nigerians after making a comment about his ex-fiancée, DJ Cuppy.

The issue started on Father’s Day when Ryan shared lovely photos of himself and his daughter on Instagram. In his caption, he celebrated being a father and expressed his hope to end racism by having mixed-race children.

However, things escalated when a follower pointed out that the child looked like his ex, DJ Cuppy. Ryan replied with a comment that many saw as shade toward the Nigerian DJ, which led to a wave of criticism from Nigerian social media users.

In response to the online attacks, Ryan Taylor posted a direct message to Nigerians, defending his current partner and addressing the drama.

“Today is a special day. Nigerians gotta chill out. You come for the mother of my child and think I won’t back it?” he wrote. “Don’t come on my page talking crap and cry when I speak.”

He continued by saying he has every right to speak his mind and isn’t under any kind of contract that limits what he can say.

“I NEVER signed the contract,” he added. “I will always say what I want and do what is right for me or my family. I haven’t said anything yet — everyone needs to chill.”

The Ryan Taylor message to Nigerians quickly went viral, with many people weighing in on whether he was right to speak out. Some supported him for defending his baby mama, while others felt he could have handled the situation more calmly.

Ryan was once engaged to DJ Cuppy, the daughter of Nigerian billionaire Femi Otedola. The pair got engaged in 2022 but later went their separate ways, reportedly without any public drama at the time.

Now, with this recent post, it’s clear that tensions are still high — especially when it comes to public comments about his past with DJ Cuppy.
