Nigeria has lost one of its most respected business leaders and philanthropists, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata, who passed away at the age of 94.

The Kano-born elder statesman died in the early hours of Saturday in Abuja, bringing to a close a long and impactful life devoted to business, charity, and national growth.

His personal assistant, Mustapha Junaid, confirmed the news in an emotional Facebook post.

“Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi rajiun. It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of our beloved father, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata. May Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Jannatul Firdaus,” he wrote.

Junaid also mentioned that information regarding the Janazah (funeral prayers) will be shared later.

Aminu Alhassan Dantata was a well-known figure in Nigeria’s business world, particularly in the northern region. He was not only one of the country’s top businessmen but also a respected voice among the northern elite.

Born into the famous Dantata family, he followed in the footsteps of his father, Alhassan Dantata, who was once the richest man in West Africa.

Over the years, Aminu built a successful career in commerce, expanding the family’s business empire and investing in various sectors including real estate, oil, and manufacturing.
