NYSC Member Salome Adaidu’s Killer Sentenced to Death by Hanging
A High Court in Lafia, Nasarawa State, has sentenced Oluwatimileyin Ajayi to death by hanging for the murder of NYSC member Salome Adaidu.

The judgment was delivered by Justice Simon Aboki, who ruled that the accused was guilty of deliberately killing and mutilating the young corps member.
Ajayi was charged with one count of culpable homicide, which falls under Section 221 of the Penal Code Law used in Northern Nigeria. This offence carries the death sentence for anyone found guilty.
Justice Aboki stated that the prosecution had presented enough evidence to prove the case beyond reasonable doubt. He concluded that Ajayi intentionally caused the death of the NYSC member and deserved the maximum punishment.
“The evidence before the court shows that the killing was intentional,” the judge said, before handing down the sentence of death by hanging.
The tragic death of Salome Adaidu, who was serving her country as a corps member, sparked public outrage across Nigeria. Many NYSC members, civil society organisations, and youth advocacy groups had called for justice to be done swiftly and fairly.
