Sanwo-Olu Denies Rift With President Tinubu Amid Viral Video Speculation
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has cleared the air on rumours of a falling-out between him and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The governor said there is no misunderstanding or bad blood between them, describing their relationship as strong and respectful.
During a recent interview on the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Governor Sanwo-Olu responded to claims that he and President Tinubu were no longer on good terms.
These claims were largely based on a viral video from the May 31 commissioning of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, where President Tinubu was seen skipping over the governor while greeting other dignitaries.
Adding fuel to the rumour, Governor Sanwo-Olu was noticeably absent at the commissioning of the Lekki Deep Sea Port Access Road at the Dangote Refinery – another major event held in Lagos just a few days later. While several governors from other states were in attendance, Sanwo-Olu’s absence raised eyebrows.
However, the governor has now debunked these rumours, saying people are misinterpreting events. “Did you see any problem? Can’t you see I’m smiling? There’s no issue at all,” he said with a laugh.
Sanwo-Olu denies rift with Tinubu, stressing that some people are simply reading too much into public appearances. “There are people who always believe they know more than everyone else.
They behave like they’re more Catholic than the Pope. Sometimes, they cry more than the person affected,” he said, dismissing the rumours.

Sanwo-Olu also revealed that he had recently visited President Tinubu at his residence in Ikoyi, Lagos, along with other members of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC). According to him, the visit went well and further confirmed that all is well between them.
Speaking on their relationship, the governor called Tinubu his father and political mentor. “He is my father, he is my leader, and we’re grateful he gave us time today to visit and greet him,” he added.
The statement puts to rest several days of speculation and online chatter. While the viral video and his absence at the Lekki event sparked debates, Sanwo-Olu insists that everything is fine between him and President Tinubu.
