19-Year-Old Stabs Friend to Death Over Disagreement in Gombe
A 19-year-old teenager, Mustapha Adamu, has been arrested by the Gombe State Police for allegedly stabbing his friend, 20-year-old Yahuza Labaran, to death after a fight on a farm in Kulani Chessi village, Balanga Local Government Area.

The incident happened on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. According to reports, the two young men went to the farm together as usual.
Around 3 p.m., they got into a heated argument. What caused the argument is still unknown, but things quickly turned violent.
Eyewitnesses said Mustapha pulled out a knife and stabbed Yahuza in the left shoulder. The deep wound caused heavy bleeding.
Police officers were called to the scene, and Yahuza was rushed to Balanga General Hospital. Sadly, doctors confirmed he was already dead when he arrived.
Mustapha was arrested soon after and taken into police custody. During early questioning, he admitted to the stabbing but said he didn’t mean to kill his friend. “We were arguing, and I lost control. I didn’t plan to kill him,” he reportedly told investigators.

Security expert Zagazola Makama described the incident as tragic and said it has left the quiet farming community in deep shock. Many villagers are now calling for more efforts to teach young people how to handle conflicts without violence.
A village elder, Mallam Umaru Kalla, expressed worry about the growing trend of youth violence in Nigeria, especially in rural farming areas.
He said, “This is not the first time a small argument has ended in bloodshed. We must teach our children better ways to solve problems. Violence is never the answer.”
Police spokesperson, Buhari Abdullahi, confirmed the incident to The Punch. He said the investigation is ongoing and that Mustapha will face charges in court once the investigation is complete.
