“Buhari Was Not an Economist, Don’t Blame One Man” – Pastor Tunde Bakare
Pastor Tunde Bakare has spoken about his personal relationship with late former President Muhammadu Buhari, following the former leader’s death.

In an interview with TVC News, Bakare addressed questions regarding his long-standing criticism of the Buhari administration and whether he ever discussed his concerns privately with the ex-president.
He confirmed that he met with Buhari on several occasions but declined to disclose the details of their conversations.
The clergyman highlighted a particular incident that angered him the raid on the home of Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Igboho.
According to Bakare, he confronted the president about the operation, but Buhari denied having prior knowledge of it.
Pastor Tunde Bakare stated that while Buhari played a central role as president, he was not an economist and relied on advisers to handle economic matters.
He explained that some of the economic decisions made during Buhari’s administration are still affecting the country today.

However, he cautioned against placing full responsibility for Nigeria’s economic challenges on one individual.
“General Buhari was not an economist. He had people that were in charge of that. Some of the economic decisions made back then we’re still seeing the effect in our nation today. But it will be wrong to put everything on the head of one man,” he said.
Bakare also compared Buhari’s tenure with that of former President Goodluck Jonathan, noting that while Jonathan was heavily criticized for corruption and mismanagement, no administration can be judged by the actions of just one person.
