Emir of Gusau Dr. Ibrahim Bello Dies at 71

The Emir of Gusau, Dr. Ibrahim Bello, has passed away at the age of 71. He died on Friday, July 25, in Abuja after battling a long-term illness.

His passing was confirmed by Sulaiman Idis, the spokesperson for Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal. In a statement, the governor expressed deep sadness over the loss and sent his condolences to the people of Zamfara.

Governor Lawal said the Emir of Gusau was not just a respected royal leader but also someone he personally looked up to.

He described him as a wise and reliable father figure who always worked hard to improve the lives of the people.

“I am deeply saddened by the death of our father, His Royal Highness, Dr. Ibrahim Bello, the Emir of Gusau. I send my heartfelt sympathy to his family, the Gusau Emirate, the State Council of Chiefs, and everyone in Zamfara,” the governor said.

He praised the Emir for his 10 years of service as a traditional ruler. According to him, the Emir showed strong leadership, dedication, and spiritual strength throughout his reign.

Governor Lawal added, “His death is a great loss not only to Zamfara State but also to the entire Northern region and Nigeria. I have lost a father and a trusted advisor whose wisdom guided me in many ways.”

He ended his message with a prayer, asking Allah to forgive the Emir’s mistakes and grant him paradise (Aljannah Firdaus).

Dr. Ibrahim Bello became the Emir of Gusau on March 16, 2015, after the death of his father.

Before becoming a royal leader, he served as a senior civil servant, reaching the level of Permanent Secretary in the former Sokoto State and later in Zamfara.

The late Emir was the 16th traditional ruler of Gusau and spent a decade on the throne, leaving behind a legacy of service and commitment to the people.
