The accident happened on Thursday, July 24, in the far eastern Amur region of Russia. The plane, an Antonov-24 operated by Angara Airlines, was flying from Blagoveshchensk, a city near the Russian-Chinese border, to the town of Tynda.

According to Amur Governor Vassily Orlov, the plane disappeared from radar during its journey. It was carrying 43 passengers, including five children, and six crew members, making a total of 49 people on board.

Rescue teams sent out a helicopter to search for the aircraft. The helicopter later spotted the burning wreckage of the plane on a mountainside, about 10 miles from Tynda. From the air, there were no signs of survivors, local rescue workers reported.

Following the crash, the Investigative Committee of Russia has started a criminal investigation to find out what caused the tragic accident.

This plane crash in Russia is one of the most devastating aviation accidents in the region in recent years. Authorities are still working to recover bodies and gather evidence from the crash site.
