Kidnappers Threaten Execution of Nigerian Law School Students Over Unpaid Ransom

Six students heading to the Nigerian Law School have been kidnapped by gunmen, who are now demanding a huge ransom for their release.

The incident happened on Saturday, July 26, as the students were traveling from Onitsha in Anambra State to the Yola campus in Adamawa State.

The abduction took place along the road between Benue and Nasarawa states.

The kidnapped students have been identified as Rev. Ernest Okafor, Ogbuka Fabian, Nwamma Philip, Okechukwu Obadiegwu, Obalem Emmanuel, and Obiorah David. 

According to a fellow student, Damilare Adenola, they were all heading to school to begin their legal training when they were taken.

At first, the kidnappers reportedly asked for ₦20 million per student. But in a new phone conversation shared with Punch on Monday, July 28, a source revealed that the abductors have increased the ransom to ₦50 million per student.

Even more disturbing, the kidnappers threatened to kill the students if the money is not paid.

“They warned us not to call the police or get security involved,” the source said. “They claimed to know everything we’re doing and said if we want them alive, we must do what they say without delay.”
