A Nigerian mother has raised serious accusations against a pastor, claiming that he took her baby’s placenta at birth and that this act is why her child cannot talk or function normally.

Mother Accuses Pastor of Taking Baby’s Placenta, Says Child Hasn’t Spoken Since Birth

The woman shared her story during a live radio program and the emotional moment was later shared on TikTok by a user named @tboss8167.

In the video, the mother said she had a very tough pregnancy. She was always sick and, on advice from others, went to a church led by a woman called “Iya Michael.”

According to her, “When I was pregnant, I fell sick often. People told me the solution was at Iya Michael’s church. When I got there, they gave me a white cloth and soap to bathe with. After using it, I felt better within two days.”

Later, she delivered her baby at a mission house linked to the same church. But things took a strange turn.

The woman who helped her give birth allegedly kept her baby’s clothes, saying it was because she registered the birth there. All the baby items they brought were also kept at the church altar.

She revealed that her labor started at 9 p.m. and she gave birth around 4 a.m. Her husband was given the baby’s placenta and he took it to the church to thank God.

However, the pastor reportedly stopped him and said the placenta must be buried within the church premises, just like they do with all babies born there.

Sadly, the mother said her child has not been able to speak or perform basic physical activities since birth. She strongly believes that what happened with the placenta is the reason for her child’s condition.

As the video spread online, many Nigerians reacted with concern and anger. Here are some of the reactions from TikTok:

@OKIN OLABISI AYINKE: “This woman is not lying. She’s my mother-in-law’s tenant. The boy’s condition is truly hard for her.”

@Big Abegbe135: “Why give your baby’s placenta to someone who isn’t family? Not even my mother-in-law would get that from me.”

@rekiat: “Why not give birth at a hospital? Why trust a church with something so serious?”

@Meenat: “A hospital is the safest place, especially if there are complications.”

@Esther Ogundeji (a health worker): “This is serious. Many people have come to my clinic asking to buy a baby’s placenta. I always warn them. Mothers, be alert after giving birth.”

@olori titilola eweje: “This sounds like autism. My cousin had a similar experience. They ignored the hospital and focused on church. Now he’s over 46 and still struggles.”

@Boluwatife: “Your husband and that church woman should be held responsible. Why would anyone drop a child’s placenta like that?”
