An old video of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari talking about forgiveness has gone viral, sparking deep emotions among Nigerians.

Shortly after his death, Bashir Ahmad, a former aide to the late president, shared a throwback clip from May 2023.
In the Muhammadu Buhari forgiveness video, the ex-president openly admitted that some of his decisions while in office might have caused pain to others. He asked for understanding and forgiveness from those who felt wronged.

In his words:
“Whoever thought that there has been some form of injustice on him — we are all humans. There is no doubt I hurt some people, and I wish they would pardon me. And those who think that I have hurt them, please pardon me.”
