UK-Based Nigerian Woman Tragically Killed After Earning PhD

A heartbreaking incident has shocked the Nigerian and academic community both in the UK and abroad, as a UK-based Nigerian woman, Dr. Fortune Gomo, lost her life shortly after earning her PhD.

According to reports shared by a social media user, Prince Adeshina, the tragic event occurred in Dundee, Scotland. Dr. Gomo, who had just completed her PhD from the University of Dundee, was reportedly attacked in broad daylight.

She was walking along South Road in Dundee with her 10-year-old daughter around 4:25 p.m. when the incident happened. The 41-year-old was allegedly stabbed by a 20-year-old man who was walking his dog at the time.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and tried to save her life, but sadly, she was confirmed dead there. Authorities have since arrested the suspect in connection with the fatal attack.

Dr. Fortune Gomo’s untimely death has left many in shock, especially those who followed her academic journey and achievements.

She was known to be a devoted mother and a determined scholar, and her sudden passing is a huge loss to both her family and the academic world.
