Court Sentences Florida Man in Bigamy Case with Multiple Wives {PHOTOS}

A shocking bigamy case in Florida has made headlines after a 50-year-old man, Henry Betsey Jr., was caught being married to three women at once  and managed to avoid jail time.

Betsey was sentenced to two years of probation after pleading “no contest” to a felony charge of bigamy in May, according to ABC Action News.

The court also ordered him to complete 100 hours of community service, undergo a mental health evaluation, and stay away from social media and dating apps.

Betsey met his first wife, Tonya Betsey, on Tinder and married her in November 2020 at the Jacksonville courthouse. 

Two years later, he married another woman, Brandy, on February 22, 2022, in Manatee County, after connecting with her on the dating app Stir.

Just months after that, Betsey tied the knot for the third time with Michele Narens, whom he met on Match.com. 

They married in Hernando County on November 23, 2022, only three weeks after meeting each other.

Each woman had no idea the others existed. Betsey had cleverly chosen different counties to get married, likely to avoid suspicion.

Tonya, the first wife, started getting suspicious and searched her husband’s name in public court records. That’s when she found two other marriage licenses one for Brandy and another for Michele.

“I just checked county by county using his name,” Tonya told reporters.

She reached out to Michele online and shared the shocking news. Michele was stunned to learn that Betsey was still married to Tonya when they tied the knot. She reported him to the police, which led to his arrest in Seminole County.

The three women believe Betsey’s true motive was financial gain. Brandy revealed that right after their wedding, he asked to combine their bank accounts.

Both Michele and Tonya also filed for domestic violence protection orders, claiming Betsey had become abusive. Brandy said she kicked him out of her house just five days after their wedding.

The women are blaming Florida’s county marriage systems for allowing this to happen.

They believe that if counties communicated better, Betsey wouldn’t have been able to get married multiple times without being caught.

“There are no safeguards, and I feel like that’s part of where the system failed,” Michele said.

During his court appearance, Betsey apologized to the women and the court, saying he didn’t mean for any of this to happen. But Michele, who was there for the sentencing, said she didn’t believe he was truly sorry.

“Do I think he has any remorse? Absolutely not,” she said.
