Lakewood Church Co-founder, Dolores Osteen Passes Away at 91

Dolores Osteen, the beloved co-founder of Lakewood Church, has passed away at the age of 91. Known to many as “Mama Dodie,” she died peacefully from natural causes.

Her son, Joel Osteen, shared the sad news on Thursday in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter).

In his message, he wrote, “It is with a heavy heart that Victoria and I, along with our family, announce the passing of our cherished mother and grandmother, Dolores ‘Dodie’ Osteen.”

Dolores Osteen was not just a church leader but also a woman deeply respected for her strong faith, kindness, and resilience. She helped build Lakewood Church into one of the largest and most well-known churches in the world.

Former Nigerian President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, also reacted to the news. In a statement released Thursday night, he described her as a remarkable woman of faith whose life made a positive impact on many people.

He added that her legacy would live on through the work of Lakewood Church and the many lives she inspired.

The Dolores Osteen death has left a void in the hearts of many who looked up to her spiritual leadership and gentle strength.
