The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested Prophet Adefolusho Aanu Olasele, also known as Abbas Ajakaiye, for allegedly leading multiple drug smuggling operations into Nigeria.

Lagos Pastor

Olasele is the founder of The Turn of Mercy Church in Lekki, Lagos.

According to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, the cleric was taken into custody on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at his church in Okun Ajah, Ogombo Road, Lekki.

Operatives reportedly monitored the premises all day and waited until the end of the evening service before moving in as he stepped outside.

This arrest came after months of pursuit. NDLEA said Olasele had twice escaped their operatives and fled to Ghana to avoid capture.

His name was linked to two large drug seizures involving Ghana Loud, a strong type of cannabis, smuggled into Nigeria through the waterways.

The first seizure happened on June 4, 2025, when 200kg of the substance was found at Okun Ajah beach. A second, larger haul of 700kg was discovered in his delivery van on July 6, 2025.

During questioning, Olasele allegedly admitted to moving the cannabis from Ghana into Nigeria. He also confirmed that he hid in Ghana after narrowly avoiding arrest on two earlier occasions.

The NDLEA has promised to fully prosecute the case and is continuing investigations to uncover his network and identify any accomplices.
