Nigerian Auto Dealer IVD Reportedly Arrested Over Wife’s Death Case

Popular Nigerian businessman and car dealer, Ikechukwu Ogbonna, better known as IVD, has reportedly been arrested in connection to a long-standing domestic violence case.

According to a report by investigative journalist Stella Dimoko Korkus, IVD was taken into custody on Friday, August 1, 2025, while trying to board a flight to Qatar. The exact airport where the arrest happened has not been disclosed.

The IVD arrest is said to be linked to the death of his wife, Bimbo Ogbonna, who died on October 15, 2022, after suffering serious burns during a fire outbreak at their home in Lekki, Lagos.

Sources claim that the police detained IVD as part of their ongoing investigation into the tragic incident, which has drawn public attention and legal scrutiny since 2022.

As of now, IVD remains in police custody and is expected to appear in court on Monday, August 4, 2025, to face charges related to the case.
